Accessibility
Datum North wants its website, documents and software to be usable by everyone, including people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, magnification, or reduced-motion settings. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we follow the customer service requirements of Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
What we’ve done
- Text and controls meet WCAG AA contrast in both the light and dark themes. Each page is checked with an automated accessibility scan before it’s published.
- Every control works with a keyboard and shows where focus is.
- The site follows your device’s light or dark setting, and the switch at the top lets you choose either one.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, demos don’t animate and show their final state instead.
- Form fields have visible labels, and errors say what to fix.
- Sample screens are labelled as sample data.
Known limits
- The demo page shows live dashboards with charts. Charts carry text descriptions, but some detail is easier to follow visually. If anything there is hard to use, ask and we’ll walk you through it another way.
- The demo page is shown in the dark theme only for now.
The software we build
Datum screens are designed to the same standard: readable contrast, keyboard use, clear labels and no reliance on colour alone. Accessibility needs are part of each project’s written acceptance criteria.
